Laganas

Laganas is the most popular and well known tourist resort on Zakynthos. It is famed for its lively nightlife, with a long strip of bars and clubs playing the latest club tunes and rhythms for magical summer nights. It therefore appeals especially to those aged 18 – 30. Restaurants offering all types of cuisine are available in Laganas, meaning that all your food tastes and cravings can easily be catered for.

Laganas beach is excellent; it is a really long stretch (about 3 km) of soft sand and is a nesting ground for the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles. A popular trip is with glass bottom boats to view the turtles. Watersports are not available here so as not to disturb the turtle's habitat however there are many other entertainment options available like go- carting, mini golf, as well as of course shopping in the many souvenir shops which offer a wide range of quality items at good prices.

Tsilivi


Tsilivi is a resort surrounded by lush green countryside which has managed to retrain a traditional Greek feel along with all the amenities necessary to be a good tourist resort. Only recently has this resort developed to become the second most popular resort on the island after Lagana, as in the past it was only frequented by families and mature couples, whereas now it is also becoming popular with younger travellers as there are some excellent clubs and bars.

The beach at Tsilivi has exceptionally clean water and the sand gently shelves into the sea making it safe for your precious little ones to swim here. A wide range of watersports are available from this beach ensuring fun days out. Lots of the bars and restaurants are family run and the whole resort has a friendly feeling, a really nice place for any family to have a relaxing holiday.

Kalamaki

Kalamaki is a resort on the south east of the island nestled amongst olive groves. This resort is unspoilt and ideal for nature lovers who seek a peaceful and restful stay. Thanks to being uncommercialised this resort has a sophisticated feel, ideal for independent travellers, families and mature couples.

The beach here is part of the Lagana Gulf and the National Marine Park of Zante which aims to protect the habitat of the flora and fauna of the island, in particular the Caretta Caretta turtles and Mediterranean monk seals. As a result no watersports are allowed, instead it is an ideal beach to sunbathe in peace and have a serene swim.

There are just a handful of tavernas and bars in Kalamaki, offering very friendly service. Several of the bars offer live music and traditional Greek dancing- visitors find these evenings thoroughly enjoyable. Kalamaki is one of the quietest resorts on the island, superb for those seeking a place for reflection, tranquillity and a chance to experience a taste of Greek life amidst pretty unspoilt surroundings or for families looking to spend some quality time together.


Alykes

Alykes has the reputation for being one of the friendliest resorts on the island, managing to combine effortlessly a traditional Greek village and a modern tourist resort. A pretty resort with lush green mountain scenery in the background and a long stretch of soft sand forming a picturesque bay make it a popular place for all tourists, but particularly families.

The sand gently shelves into the warm crystal clear waters making it suitable for swimmers of any level and safe for even the youngest of children. There are a wide range of bars, restaurants and tavernas for those seeking quality food and a sophisticated nightlife. Being in the north of the island, Alykes is near to the famous Shipwreck beach and Blue Caves both of which are must sees on any visit to Zante. Once visited Alykes is a place that captures traveller's hearts and many visitors return year after year.


Alykanas

Alykanas is the neighbouring resort to Alykes and it is easy to walk between the two. Alykanas has a nice beach also a continuation of Alykes beach. The resort is fairly quiet but can get lively in July and August.

Alykanas is known for its many good fish restaurants as well as a wide selection of other restaurants offering varied cuisines. Family run bars with friendly atmospheres are perfect for a drink before or after dinner.

The resort has many good tourist shops, as well as supermarkets and an ATM meaning that all necessary amenities are within easy reach.


Argassi

Argassi is a lively resort ideal for couples and families. With pine clad hills and Mount Skopos in the background providing an impressive landscape. The beach is popular thanks to having both sandy and pebbly parts and many watersports like paragliding, jet-skis, ringoes etc on offer- it also stays shallow until quite far out making it safe for kids.

With a wide range of cuisines available: Greek, Chinese, Indian, Italian, in the numerous restaurants, dining is sure to be fabulous- the only problem will be trying to choose which of the restaurants to visit! Friendly bars offering varied music styles are the perfect place to spend the evening, providing an excellent finish to fun summer days.
